The work

One body at a time, on the same lane since 1991
Dev Tailor is a gents tailor in Vijay Enclave, cutting and stitching for men in this part of Delhi for more than thirty years. Not a showroom and not a chain — one shop down one lane, where the man who measures you is the man who cuts the cloth and the man whose name is over the door.
The work is made to measure, which means it starts with a body rather than a size. A sherwani for a wedding, a bandhgala worked in gold, a double-breasted suit, a kurta for a festival, a jacket taken in after a good year or a hard one. Suits, tailoring and alterations — the three trades on the board outside the door.
What customers write about most is the fit. One of them put it plainly after having two outfits made for her father: “the work was perfect in 1 time only. No alterations needed.” For made-to-measure that is the whole test — right on the first fitting, so the garment is finished when you collect it rather than sent back twice.
The shop keeps long hours, 9 am to 9 pm, seven days a week, because people come after work and at the weekend when there is time to stand still and be measured properly. Walk in with an idea, a photograph, or a garment you already own and want copied.

The four suiting mills named on the board outside. Bring your own length if you would rather — plenty of customers do, and it is stitched the same way.

Exceptional work, though the shop is in a conjested location, but the work was perfect in 1 time only. No alterations needed. Got 2 outfits stitched for my father.
Yes, Madam. Just so you know, you took the wrong route to reach our shop; you need to come straight into the lane opposite the Shani Mandir and ask for 'Dev Tailor'. Sir, Dev Tailor's shop is just 200 meters away.
Dev replied
I got stiched a suit and two shirts from Dev Tailor recently. The quality of work is commendable and price is reasonable. In addition to excellent craftsmanship, I love his 'Service with Smile' attitude. Highly recommend to visit once.
Very polite - good knowledge of job - reasonable rates - perfect stiching - very punctual and time bond delivery of stiched clothes.

Finding the shop
It is down a lane off the chowk, so first-time visitors sometimes take the wrong turn. Dev’s own directions: the lane opposite the Shani Mandir, about 200 metres in, ask for Dev Tailor.
